Taiwanese artist Huang Wu-Peng

Born 1993, Taiwanese artist Huang Wu-Peng graduated from the Department of Graphic Arts Communication Techniques in Taipei Municipal Daan Vocational High School.

Wu-Peng heavily concerns himself with the concept of questioning the authenticity of disseminated information and conveys it through eclectic means in both visual arts and writings. Such recurrence present in the artist’s repertoire could be identified as an act of communicating through assumptions. Subjects in his works are all attached with symbolic values, and it is through the interpretations of these values that different degrees of information are conveyed, which could potentially effect changes in perceptions towards his work. In this sense, human behaviours are artistic creations in and of themselves, since each individual would subconsciously translate what they see into their personal understandings of the world around them using their accumulated life experiences.

To elaborate, Wu-Peng iterates that human emotions are pegged to the value in the meaning and symbolisms of objects. Wu-Peng’s artworks illicit such emotions by tapping on subjects from political, social, and religious cues, thus allowing each individual their own discretion to allocate value to what they perceive in his art.

To date, Wu-Peng has had his works showcased across the continents of Asia, Europe, and North America.
