Malaysian Artist Christine Lok

Singapore-based Malaysian artist Christine Lok (b. 1995) is an artist, art educator, and industry professional whose visual arts practice explores the intricacies of the human condition. Through her body of works, Christine’s viewers are confronted with the social, psychological, and often overlooked issues faced in everyday life.

Not straying far from her praxis, Christine’s current series focuses on the primary colours – red, yellow, and blue. Using abstract strokes, the colours are kept organic and blocked in with much energy and vibrancy as the artist attempts to convey the dynamic nature of human life and connections expressed within the relationships in society.

Christine has a knack for diverting from traditions and reinventing techniques to keep up with her whimsical art-making styles. From paintings and photography to sculptural and mixed-media works, she constantly factors in her flare of “mash-ups” to push the conceptual and aesthetic boundaries in her art, all in a bid to raise awareness and offer new outlooks into social issues through multidisciplinary approaches.
