International Women's Day is celebrated on 8th March every year to acknowledge and honour the achievements of women all over the globe. In line with this initiative, Art Connects Women, the international art exhibition now in its 4th edition, once again brings women artists from all over the world to laud the creativity, strength and passion with which they express themselves through artworks. The exhibition will be inaugurated on 5th March 2020 at One&Only Royal Mirage, Dubai, by His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Minister of State, who will be the Chief Guest. The show will be opened for public till 8th March.

This year, in the lead up to International Women's Day 2020, ZeeArts, the global art organization nestled in Dubai and the organiser of Art Connects Women International Exhibition, has launched a campaign (100 days - 100 individuals) posting individuals coming from all walks of life demonstrating the “Each for Equal" pose with the aim of spreading awareness and providing an impetus to the importance of building and nurturing an inclusive society that overrides differences of gender, race, class, generations, and geography.

Following an Open Call, Art Connects Women has so far received 289 applications from over 100 countries; the selected artists are invited to showcase their works (painting, sculpture, installation, or assemblage) under the theme “Each for Equal.” The event provides a platform for women artists to reflect, connect, collaborate, and network strategically to tackle some of the greatest challenges faced by today’s female entrepreneurs and artists. Alongside the artwork displayed in the main exhibition, the 4-day event will also present a number of related activities, including the unveiling of the art book (Women Artists Around the World) and a conference bringing women leaders from several industries together to express themselves on the same theme on 7th March at Dubai Opera, and hosting an award night ceremony on 8th March and providing opportunity for emerging designers with a fashion show.

The event’s founder and founder of ZeeArts, Zaahirah Muthy, is a passionate art activist from Mauritius Island. A recognised artist herself, Zaahirah has dedicated her life to encouraging positive social change and channeling the message of empowerment through her art and artistic initiatives. Zaahirah has exhibited her work across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the US, and Asia, and has been the curator of World Art Dubai since 2017. She has curated over 30 art exhibitions in the UAE, Singapore, Georgia, Mauritius, France, and Lebanon. ZeeArts, her special purpose vehicle to promote art, is now a leading art platform with over 700 artists across the world registered with it.

ZeeArts' core mission is to connect and empower local and international artists through art exhibitions, events, artist empowerment programs, retreats, and cultural exchanges. The organisation has a strong commitment to social responsibility, including investing in women artists, as a means of bolstering economies and to meet the needs of long-term productivity and sustainable growth.
